Not Again!

I had to cancel my reservations for this weekend.

My van’s remote keys are working intermittently, my clock display disappears at times, and my right brake light got dimmer and dimmer, then went out yesterday. So I am thinking it is probably electrical problems.

I do have a warranty that should cover the repairs, but it breaks my heart to have to cancel another camping trip.

Electrical problems, who need ’em? But wise decision to get everything fixed up first. I don’t think there’s anything worse than getting towed!

    Hang in there.

    • I am sitting here torn between wishing I was camping and being very grateful that I am safe and comfortable at home until everything is fixed and reliable again.

Also am having website issues. I thought I was rid of the ads!

Hope you are enjoying your travels wherever you are. πŸ™‚

Your remote problem is most likely the internal battery inside the remote. About $6.00 mol and if it is a battery shop like Batteries + they will install them for free. My batteries last about 3 to 4 years.

    • Donald, I had new keys programmed at the Ford dealer Monday. The batteries in the remote are fine. I already had to replace one in my old key that was starting to act erratically, which fixed it. The dealer said it might be the actuator wearing out. But after I noticed the clock display and the brake light acting erratically, I’m guessing I have a lose wire or a bad ground somewhere.

Thanks for your suggestion, though. I really needed it the first time the battery started dying in my remote and I got panicky about not being able to unlock my door then!

Oh poo…hoping they find the shortest trail thru the electrical mess to a quick fix. It’s too cute not to be setting on a fun site in the woods with you onboard. Stinks to have things fail were not masters at. Challenges OK but something expensive and baffling. Been there. πŸ’ŸπŸ€―πŸ€—

    • When I was younger, I would have been so upset. Now I’m a bit more philosophical about it. But I miss that little buggy (my neighbor’s term for it) so badly! I am cutting solar screening for the windows while it’s gone, which helps a lot. πŸ™‚
