Got to Re-Winterize

The temperature is supposed to go down to 16 tomorrow night.  So I’m going to have to re-winterize the Casita.  Since we’re planning a trip in a week, I was hoping to skate by without doing it.

Down to 20, I would just leave the heater blasting all night with the cabinet doors open to keep the pipes warm. But 16 is pushing it, and there’s no guarantee it won’t actually be a few degrees colder.

About the valances, I’ve tried several different approaches.  I’ve finally decided what I want to do, so got the material cut today.

And a master in woodworking has made something special for the Casita.  He’s shipping it to me today.  So I’m hoping to be able to share photos after I get it installed… maybe Tuesday.  🙂

That’s nothing. It was -8 here in ND last night. Suppose to be in the 30’s this weekend though. I’m going to wait a couple months to use my Casita.

    Let’s see the material…

    What are you getting special?

    • Camilla, I’m using the same material as the floral print on my beds for the valances.

And you gotta wait to see the special thing! He just wrote that I should receive it Tuesday or Wednesday!

Oh it’s sounding exciting. I can’t wait to see how it ends up. Looking forward to the next posting.

    • Hope they turn out like I have them pictured in my mind. They should fit the decor perfectly, but be casual and hopefully a little flirty! 🙂

  4. Jerry, you probably do know. There was a hint on the board a few days ago! 🙂

I am hoping this is our last really cold snap of the year. 21 degrees is plenty cold!

Your Casita is so homey looking. I’ll especially interested in what you do with the window treatments. And a surprise . . . how exciting is that?

13 degrees last night in Michigan. Camping weather is a way off yet, but we sure are making plans and dreaming.

    • Marsha, the valances are going SLOWLY. I worked for hours last night and only have about 25″ of the pleats done on one valance! At least maybe I can get one up the first of the week. It’s going to take a while.

I really appreciate your comments on the Casita. I am trying to make it a sweet little home away from home — kind of like a micro condo on wheels. 🙂

13 degrees! Winter finally found us, didn’t it? Glad you are making plans and dreaming. I think that is part of the joy of owning a camper. When you can’t camp, you can dream of faraway sunny places.

  6. As a gal who enjoys decorating, I love seeing what your doing in your Casita. I’m liking your color and fabric choices, perfect!
What is the flooring of your RV…..a wood look? Can’t wait to
    see the final outcome.
Per chance, do you or your followers know of any Airstream Trailer
blogs? Would like to find some.
    Great posts….. :))

    • Hi, Linda,

      Thanks! 🙂

The flooring is the original (ugly) white vinyl that came in the 2005 models. Eventually I’ll put a nice wood-look laminate down, but that’s way down the road!

I don’t know of any Airstream blogs. I do enjoy dropping in on the Airstream forums sometimes. If I were looking for an Airstream blog, I’d go to their forums and check the signatures of members. Sometimes they will have links to the members’ blogs.
